Some of you may be familiar with Kittenwar, a site where you’re presented with two pictures of kittens and tasked with choosing which is cuter.

Well, now there’s a Spore themed version, Best Spore Creature, where you have to pick which of the two presented creatures is the best!

You’re able to submit your own creatures for consideration if you want, just signup for the site.

The only problem I have noticed so far is that some of the images are blurred rather badly. I’m not sure if that’s a result of poor images being uploaded or some artifact of the system, but if you want to submit your own creatures try and make them as clear as possible so we all have an easier time voting!

Name: Notso Mellow

Description: They’d call him Mellow Yellow if he wasn’t so jittery!

Another yellow creature. Also a creature that could walk either way if the engine allowed such things.

Statistics:
Abilities - Mating Call, Jump (5), Sprint (3), Sight
Attack - Bite (5), Charge (2), Spit (4)
Socialize - Sing (2), Dance (5), Charm (5)
Speed - 2
Health - 40
Diet - Omnivore

Notes:
Really just wanted to create another “pushme pullyou” type character. But yellow!

The reason the description says he’s jittery is because when he walks his feet go berserk. Not sure how well it’ll come out in the YouTube video, but have a look!

Name: Grimglup

Description: Mean, green and spikey, Grimglup is a spitting machine, with four seperate launchers where you might otherwise expect hands.

Abilities - Mating Call, Graspers, Sneak (5), Sight
Attack - Bite (5), Charge (2), Strike (1), Spit (2)
Socialize - Sing (1), Dance (1), Charm (1), Pose (2)

Diet - Carnivore

Notes:
Despite the four spitter appendages, Grimglup only has a spit rating of 2, probably due to the use of Gobstalkers rather than one of the more powerful parts.
Yes, you guessed it, this is another creature from my time with the Trial!

Obviously I have no idea how effective the spitting weapons really will be within the game at this point, but in all likelihood Grimglup would be trading in his current spitters for one of the spikey spitting parts in a full version revamp, to match the spines that run down his back.

His mouth is hugely oversized from the standard version. I’m not really sure how a creature his size would use a mouth that big, but it makes him look scarier… or at least goofier.

Name: Icy Yu

Description: Tall, yet also kind of short. Pink, but also kind of purple. Slow, but can see you unless you run a really, really long way away.

Socialize - Sing (2), Dance (1), Pose (2)

Notes:
One of my earliest creations in the Trial version of the Creature Creator, Icy Yu is a fairly simplistic creature.
Why call it Icy Yu? Icy You. I See You.
Oh yeah, I’ve got a million of them!

Modifications in the full version of the game will likely include some better feet, so he can move a little faster, plus perhaps some spikes around the mouth, to give it some more attack power. Possibly a spitter mounted on the opposite side to the eye, to give it a defensive weapon in case of “tactical retreat”/running away from the big scary things of the world.

Just had it brought to my attention that there’s an issue with the comments system here on Spore Daily.

It seems to be a problem with Internet Explorer 7 and the way it renders iframes. If you have Firefox installed - and you should! - then it should work fine in that.

I’ve lodged an error report with the fine folks of Disqus and will hopefully get a fix in soon. Sorry for the inconvenience!

(Note: If it’s not fixed within a few days I may revert to the default Wordpress system. I’ll make another post at that time if it happens.)
