Scootle!Name: Scootle

Description: The Scootle is a hardy bug. Many housewives have requested their husbands get a sledgehammer, rather than a shoe with which to kill it. And the cleanup! Oh my.

Heavily armour plated, though somewhat brightly coloured, the Scootle scoots around quite quickly to avoid fighting when it doesn’t need to. When a fight is inevitable, the heavy armour plates ensure the scootle can survive quite a beating, while dishing out strong bites and spit attacks.

Statistics:
Abilities – Mating Call, Sight
Attack – Bite (4), Charge (3), Spit (3)
Socialize – Sing (1), Dance (3), Charm (1)
Speed – 5
Health – 50
Diet – Carnivore

Notes:
Originally I started the Scootle in an attempt to recreate the kreetles from Star Wars Galaxies, however it became apparent that it just wasn’t going to look right. I saw another direction to take it and went with that instead.

The underbelly was going to prove too difficult to coat with armour and in any event it makes more sense for a low, scuttling creature to have a slightly weaker underbelly.

I suspect that a better colour combination could be devised for Scootle than his current powder blue and hot pink, however I wanted him to be kind of bright, since he’s going to rely more on speed and toughness than blending into the environment. He’s a likely candidate for rejigging at a later date, however.

  • I have two questions. 1. Where in the creature creator will we buy brains when Spore ships? 2. In creature game, what happens if you walk into water?
  • I'm not sure about the brains question, Scott. I think that's more a question of how many DNA points you've accumulated or something.
Not sure about walking into water. I believe you can do so in the shallower sections and suspect it might be an "invisible wall" if you try to get into anything deeper. There's at least one recent video out there with a creature walking through water, so it's certainly not out of the question. :)
