Pushme Pullyou!Name: Pushme Pullyou

Description: Is he coming or going? Both!

From a very old children’s story. The Pushme Pullyou has a face on each of the upper parts of the torso.

Statistics:
Abilities – Mating Call, Sight
Attack – Bite (2), Charge (2)
Socialize – Sing (4), Dance (4), Charm (5)
Speed – 2
Health – 40
Diet – Herbivore

Notes:
Probably not strictly true to the book. I’m fairly sure the original Pushme Pullyou wasn’t green.
But it probably was about this goofy-looking!

The creature would be better if it would walk in both directions, however if you try and make the “Pullyou” part lead, the “Pushme” part will just turn around and take the lead again.

The “Sing” Social interaction makes up for it all, though!

The Muddy Murderer!Name: Muddy Murderer

Description: A large, cow-like creature who looks to be caked in mud.

And she’s carnivorous, unlike regular cows!

Statistics:
Abilities – Mating Call, Sight
Attack – Bite (5), Charge (1), Spit (2)
Socialize – Sing (2), Charm (1)
Speed – 2
Health – 40
Diet – Carnivorous

Notes:
This creature was made with the trial version of the Creature Creator, which is why my cow is a carnivore. As it turned out, it being a carnivore was not such a big deal, since it allowed for a funny name once I’d painted her up!

The protusions you see under the legs are the cow’s udders, not anything lewd. Though it does look kind of ridiculous when you make her “spit”!

If I were to use this creature in the full game I would likely replace the feet with something more appropriate to a cow from the full selection of feet available. For now it’ll be staying with the current feet so that people with the trial can still download her and make her spit.

Name: Whatbigeyesyouhave
(That’s “What Big Eyes You Have” if you can’t work it out!)

Description: All the better to see you with, my dear.

Huge eyes, huge spikes for eyelashes and a strange little foot under the main part of the body. Strange enough for people? I certainly hope so!

Originally this guy was only going to have the one foot under his body, but I gave it the two extra ones because it looked a little strange without them.
You know, more strange than it should.

Statistics:
Abilities – Mating Call, Graspers, Sight
Attack – Bite (5), Charge (2), Strike (5)
Socialize – Sing (2), Dance (2), Charm (1), Pose (2)
Speed – 4
Health – 40
Diet – Carnivore (prefers Little Red Riding Hoods)

Notes:
Was first created as a one legged hopping creature but I didn’t really like how it was turning out, so the additional legs were added.
Not really a lot more to it than that. I think this creature is kind of pretty.
Using the spikes as eyebrows also had an unplanned for advantage – this creature actually has a lot of attack power, for all its cuteness.

The poisonous Red Bellied Crystal SpiderName: Red Bellied Crystal Spider

Description: The red bellied crystal spider stalks its prey swiftly and silently, often using the distinctive red and black crystalline landscapes of their homeworld as camoflage.

Statistics:
Abilities – Mating Call, Sneak (5), Sight (Lots of sight!)
Attack – Bite (3), Charge (5), Strike (1)
Socialize – Sing (1), Dance (4)
Speed – 5
Health – 40
Diet – Carnivore

Notes:
I really wanted this guy to be a spider – thus the eight legs, and the name – but when you see it walking around, it really isn’t. All the legs on one side of the body move at once, rather than the usual spider crawling motion. As a result the body has a bit of a bob and roll to it when moving. Definitely detracts from the creepiness.

I’m not 100% sold on the crystals down its back, and I think it’s the yellowing of them that’s doing it. There’s not meant to be any yellow in the creature and yet the crystals are. It’s a little annoying and may be cause for a revisit of the creature later on.

Also, this thing has nine eyes. Nine! There seems to be no advantage to having multiple eyes, but a spider with just two eyes wouldn’t look right.
They’ve also picked up a real evil red tint around the edges, which is nice!

This is the first creature I’ve had to include a background setting with which to record a video. If you want a black background for whatever reason, don’t make a black creature!

As of today the Sporepedia now plays host to more than half a million creatures in less than a week since the initial leak of the Creature Creator.

Whilst the pace is likely to slacken somewhat from here as people get over the initial rush, it’s looking like the million creature mark will be hit by the end of the month. Which is a staggering number of creations.

Currently the number of registered users sits around the 270,000 mark, which means the average number of creatures uploaded to the Sporepedia is only two a piece. Perhaps a result of the widespread issues players are having with the game losing creatures if you try and upload too many?

As yet there is no word on a patch for the Creator, but one would hope it’s not too far off.

To celebrate hitting the 500,000 creature mark, here’s a selection of some of the current high-rated creatures on the Sporepedia!
