Notes:
For those who were unaware, I’m Australian. Australia is home to the kangaroo! So I had to try making a kangaroo.

To be honest, it didn’t go well. The game doesn’t recognise that the creature should hop, of course, plus the tiny arms don’t move very convincingly either. The pouch looks a little weird but I wasn’t sure what else to use.

I may change this creature to a bright red at some point, too. The dark red just isn’t doing it for me. Plus it makes for bad screenshots!

Yes, I tried getting a two footed hop going the other night with my small Sparrow Finch. I had basically a single thigh that then branched into two feet. The CC animation system detects one foot and you have a hop; two and it starts walking. Another reason I haven't tried a kangaroo-type creature myself yet. Have seen one or two single legged 'roos, though.

Anyway...that was red? Looked dark brown to me ;-)
  • It's a very dark red! ;)

I've tried a number of different leg configurations and it all seems to either be walking with 2+ legs or hopping with 1!
I guess there has to be limits though or the system would be way too hard to program.

One of the drawbacks to the creature creator, and perhaps the vehicle editor, is that when you try to make something real the procedural animation makes it so that it will work, but not necessarily the way you will want it to. Its sort of the same thing that happens with a lot of eight legged creatures such as the crystal spider.

You can use one of the ear parts as a pouch.
  • Didn't think to try an ear, will give that a shot next time, thanks!
